Why can't we use '=' operator to assign stack as reversed stack

why we can’t simply reverse stack as :

void reverse(stack < int> &s)

{

stack<int> p;

while(!s.empty())
{
    p.push(s.top());
    s.pop();
}
s=p;

}

this only uses one extra stack

yes you can do this.
And this uses 1 extra stack.
