Using BFS in flood fill

I am curious if BFS can be used to perform the flood fill.
I am not sure because DFS fits better when it comes to the implicit matrix traversal.

Actually both the algos perform equally well to perform flood fill
No difference really
People prefer DFS since it doesnt use any DS and is easier to code compared to BFS
