Unique prefix Array

In the code https://ide.codingblocks.com/s/220560 for the above question, why does a box appear after du (the 4 th output)? And also how can I put -1 instead of 1 if the condition is not met(for ex the first input) as the compiler shows error if I put -1 instead of array of 1’s.
