It is said that once the split is done around a certain feature then it can be used again for further split , but as per my understanding we can re use a feature for further split . please comment on this.
Regarding split around Nodes
Basically this depends on the feature, if the we are talking about feautre named ‘sex’ having two possibilities only namely, male,female than in this case the feature can’t be reused for splitting as in one branch we will have all examples belonging to one class only and hence information gaid would become zero for feature ‘sex’.
On the other hand if we have more than 2 classes or continuous data than we can surely reuse that feature for split if it offers more information gain.
