Ping test and speed test
When you ping a specific network or server, it is essentially a measure of how much time it takes for a packet to arrive at said server and return back to your computer. Pings usually occur in milliseconds - or thousandths of a second.
When you measure your internet speed, it is measuring the amount of bandwidth, or the amount of data that can be transferred either from or to your computer (download and upload respectively). Essentially, this is how quickly you could move a file to/from somewhere on the internet. This is measured in Mbps nowadays, or Megabits per second.
