Memory allocation

sir, you said we cannot expand the memory of a cell, but one cell is of 1 byte(8 bits) so why we cant allocate 15(4 bits).

it dosent matter what data u have , size allocation will always be done on the basis of datatype.
ex->
if u have declared datatype int x=2;
then size will always be equal to sizeof(x) irrespective of what value of u have stored.
