LSTM number of units

When we add an LSTM layer, the first parameter is the number of units. How is it decided? Is it a hyperparameter? Or some maths is involved that i am missing?

yeah , you got it right , it is a hyperparameter and you need to get the correct one ,based on your dataset.

Although most of the times it found nearby the value of input shape.
