Doubt in Hash Function

Why we do we take the power to be greater than 26 as mentioned, why cant it be less than 26, any specific reason?

Suppose we have to take modulo from big no then before that each string must have a unique hash value
But if we take p=25 then az and zy will have same value and there will be many strings with same hash value
But when we take num>26 then this value becomes unique as far as I know.
