Code doubt in the reverse stack problem

what if we hadn’t used index variable in the reverse stack recursive function at all ?

Then we won’t be able to maintain a count of our indexes hence when our original stack is empty and helper stack is full, we wont’ be able to get all elements back into the original stack.
