While taking the cell as the point of meet I noticed that 1st row 1st col, last row and last col were not taken consideration why ?

Because there would be no such valid optimum path in which they meet at boundary (i=1 or i=n, or j=1 or j=n) and still contribute to maximum total gain.
Because firstly, they cannot meet at more than 1 cell and also, if a cell is traversed by both still it would be counted only ones, which means if girl goes to a cell which boy has already visited earlier, it would be of no benefit to girl.
