instead of taking string , cant we take char in HashMap.
HashMap<Character, Integer> map = new HashMap<>();

yes Pallavi, you can take character as long as there are at max 256 nodes in the graph(i.e. unless all the characters are consumed). so for the general purpose, your node id should be flexible i.e string is preferable.
