At 4:11 why ans=max(ans,cnt)

Can anyone explain why this is required…
Shouldn’t be the ans=n*n - (count of accessible coordinates from (1,1))

Yes, he was calculating the cells which are accessible.
cells which are inaccessible will be n*n - count of accessible coordinates from (1,1);
