Tilling Problem - II

Not able to understand how tiles can be placed vertically.

If i have m x n
m = 4 rows
n = 4 columns

Tile
1 * m
Each tile has dimension of (1 complete row and 4 columns)

so tiles can be placed horizontally only.

How can it be placed vertically.

Hey @connectrajanjain you are absolutely right that with the condition given you can only place vertically but what if you are allowed to rotate the tiles and then place it ?
PS : You hands are not restricted to rotate the tiles in the question.

I am still not able to understand. If you rotate the tiles it will not fit the grid.

Hey @connectrajanjain Here m = 4 not 8 you have used m = 8 it should be 4

So we have tiles of two sizes

1xm
nx1

When used 1xm , we require 4 tiles.
When used nx1 , we require 8 tiles.

So, there are 2 ways of placing tiles for 4*8 grid. Is this correct ??

I am thinking i am in wrong direction. Can you please draw a pictorial view ??

Hey @connectrajanjain There is only 1 kind of tiles available.
