How does this approach stop from getting non continuous part of array

like for array 5 -10 10
the maximum subarray for indices 0-1 would be 5 and indices 2 would be 10. now if we would apply the relation given in the video then we would get 15 but answer is 10 as 5 and 10 are non contiuous
