Erase function implementation of Hashmap

I am unable to implement the erase function in the hashmap custom class. Please tell me how to do so.

suppose u have a map<int,int> mp
lets suppose there is a key value pair present in map (1 -> 2)and u want to erase it… u can simply write mp.erase(1)

I am able to do it with STL. But if I make my own hash map class, then how am I supposed to implement the erase function?
