It’s feasible, but it’s not as easy as it sounds. Outlook saves your information in PST files, while IBM Notes (Lotus Notes) saves in NSF file types. You simply can’t literally export PST information to IBM Notes, because you have to manually transfer your emails, contacts, and tasks from PST to IBM Notes. And the bigger your PST file, the more that process could take a long time, and could easily become complicated.
Manual Processes for Moving PST Information:
So, if you don’t want to use a tool at this time, you can try the manual process below:
• Install Outlook and IBM Notes:
Ensure both Outlook and IBM Notes are installed and set up on your computer.
Open Your PST files in Outlook:
• Open Outlook. Go to File > Open & Export > Open Outlook Data File.
Select your PST file, and you will be able see your emails, contacts and tasks.
• Export Emails Individually:
You can drag and save all your emails as .EML files to a folder on your system.
This will have to be done for every email.
• Export Contacts:
In the Outlook program, go to File> Export and choose Import/Export.
From the Import/Export dialogue, you will see “Export to a File” choose the lot option Comma Separated Values (CSV) since we can use the same process to save our tasks.
• Exporting Contacts:
Do the same options to export our HMR Task to a .CSV file
• Importing your Data into IBM Lotus:
From Lotus Notes, open up Lotus Notes and then drag the EML Emails into a Notes folder or mailbox.
After all of your emails have been dragged into a Notes folder, use the Import CSV option of Notes for your contacts and tasks.
Each of the manual methods has its limitations, as follows:
- Time-Consuming: You will have to save and import emails, contacts or tasks separately.
- Errors: Formatting, attachments, or information could be lost during the export.
- Not Incredibly Feasible for Larger Mailboxes: If you have thousands of emails, or multiple PST files, the manual method can be tiresome.
- Operations: Manually transferring your email will require both the Outlook and the IBM/Lotus Notes programs installed on your computer.
The Softaken PST to NSF converter is a much easier and faster way to transfer PST contacts and tasks to IBM Notes along with emails, if you want to save time and have a seamless transfer experience:

• There is no need to export manually or drag files one at time.
• Retains folder structure, metadata, and formatting.
• Has no issues managing large PST files, and supports all versions of Outlook and IBM Notes.
• Included is a free demo version, so you can check your data before purchasing.
With this method, moving all your Outlook data reliably and quickly into IBM Notes is easy and stress-free.
